Zinemateka Azkuna Zentroa "Filmmakers of the Transition": "EL DIPUTADO (1978)"
A screening of El diputado (1978), part of the Zinemateka Azkuna Zentroa series on filmmakers of the Spanish Transition (1976–1984). The film follows Roberto Orbea, a former clandestine left-wing activist elected to parliament in 1977, who is blackmailed by a far-right group threatening to expose his homosexuality just as he is about to lead his party. Once dismissed by some critics as propaganda, it is now regarded as a key document of its time. Screenings on Monday at 19:00 and Thursday at 17:00 at Golem Alhóndiga, Bilbao. Tickets: 5 €.
