"A boundless reality: the American landscape in the Colección Patricia Phelps de Cisneros"
A talk by curator and art historian Gabriel Pérez-Barreiro, former director and chief curator of the Colección Patricia Phelps de Cisneros, at the Museo de Bellas Artes de Bilbao. Drawing on the exhibition Visiones de ultramar, he will discuss how the natural and national image of the new American republics took shape after their independence from Spain in the 19th century, as European and American travellers, scientists, soldiers and painters forged a new artistic language to depict an unfamiliar landscape. Aimed at anyone interested in art and history. 11 November at 18:30; admission €8.
