Torre Bela, Thomas Harlan

A screening in San Sebastián of Torre Bela, a 1975 documentary by German filmmaker Thomas Harlan, co-produced by Portugal, Italy, Switzerland and Germany. The 81-minute film is shown in its original language with Spanish subtitles, in DCP format. A landmark of 1970s militant political cinema, it follows the 219-day occupation of the Torre Bela estate by hundreds of workers in the aftermath of Portugal's Carnation Revolution, as they sought to turn it into a cooperative and end the privileges of the ruling class.
