Tangles

Screening at Cineteca Madrid of Tangles, the first feature by Canadian filmmaker Leah Nelson, co-founder of the Giant Ant studio, part of the International Competition. This animated film adapts Sarah Leavitt's graphic novel and follows Sarah, an artist and activist in 1990s San Francisco who returns to her small conservative hometown when her mother begins to show signs of Alzheimer's. Balancing a new relationship, her ambitions and an eccentric family, she must learn to accept the illness. The film premiered in the Special Screenings at Cannes.
