Book presentation: "Hegal Egiten" (Eneko Bidegain)
Eneko Bidegain presents his novel Hegal Egiten (2026) at Zirika! herri gunea in Bilbao, in conversation with Josu Martinez. The book draws on the escape of two Iparretarrak prisoners from Pau prison on 13 December 1986 and, following the character Maddi Hegi, explores prison life, the role of women in the Basque conflict, political tensions with France, police and parapolice pressure, and misunderstandings between generations. It is fiction based on real events, built from testimonies, letters and careful research, with mystery and plot twists along the way. The event takes place on 19 October 2026 at 19:00, and admission is free.
