Book presentation: "En las afueras de la oligarquía vasca. Romo, historias, memorias y desmemorias de un barrio obrero"
Author Paco Blanco presents his book about Romo, a working-class neighbourhood of Getxo that has long stood against the town's dominant narrative. The book brings back overlooked events and people: the floods, the closure of "La Aurora", the burning of the Las Mercedes church and the fight for an underground metro, alongside figures such as Matías Romo, Jesús Escauriaza, Elvira Larrazabal and María Goiri. It explores social inequality, union and feminist struggles, linguistic identity and heritage. The presentation takes place on 18 November 2026 at 18:00 at Romo Kultur Etxea (RKE). Admission is free.
