"Ombuaren itzala"
The Areria Cultural Centre in Lazkao screens Ombuaren itzala, a film by director Patxi Bisquert made in the Basque Country. It follows the poet and bertsolari Pello Mari Otaño, who first fled to Argentina to avoid military service. Falling ill at 33, he returned to Gipuzkoa, met and married Madalen Alberdi, settled in Donostia and earned recognition in literary competitions for his poetry. Unable to support his family or uphold his liberal, republican and pro-fueros convictions, he left for Argentina for the last time with his wife and three children. The screening takes place on 27 November 2026 at 19:00.
