Loraldia 2027: "Gernika"
As part of the Loraldia 2027 festival, Aukeran Dantza Konpainia performs Gernika at the Teatro Arriaga in Bilbao on 6 March 2027 at 19:00. Blending traditional Basque dance with contemporary dance, the piece marks the 90th anniversary of the bombing of 26 April 1937 and reflects on collective memory, pain and rebirth. Those killed in the bombing return to tell of their lives before the destruction, the arrival of war and how remembrance makes it possible to rise again. Rather than a linear historical account, it is a sensory and emotional journey from light to darkness and from mourning to resistance. Directed and choreographed by Edu Muruamendiaraz, with original music by Aitor Amezaga.
