"Lamiako 1979" (premiere)
The Teatro Arriaga in Bilbao hosts the premiere of "Lamiako 1979", a contemporary opera in Basque set in the Lamiako neighbourhood in the late twentieth century. Drawing on mythology and popular memory, it explores collective identity, belonging and loss. The Leioa Kantika Korala choir, with over twenty years of activity, is at the heart of the production, joined by four soloists, an instrumental ensemble and electronic music. Music by Jon Sáenz Rubio, libretto by Hegoa Álvarez Zorroza, musical direction by Basilio Astúlez and stage direction by Lucía Astigarraga. Performances on Friday at 19:30 and Saturday at 19:00. Tickets: €21.
