La Gradiva

Cineteca Madrid screens La Gradiva, the debut feature by French filmmaker Marine Atlan, as part of the International Competition. The film follows a small group of French high school students on a school trip to Pompeii, exploring its ruins and the bodies petrified by Vesuvius in 79 AD, until a sudden sense of vertigo overtakes them. Trained at La Fémis, Atlan is also a screenwriter and cinematographer whose work focuses on adolescence and relationships between characters. The film won the Grand Prix at Cannes Critics' Week.
