"Farsa y licencia de la reina castiza" (Basque Country premiere)
Teatro Barakaldo hosts the Basque Country premiere of this play by Ramón del Valle-Inclán, adapted and directed by Ana Zamora, with musical direction by Víctor Pliego de Andrés and lighting by Juan Gómez Cornejo. A rogue tries to blackmail Queen Isabel II with compromising letters, while the king and rival court factions end up joining forces to hide their own disgraces. It is a biting, grotesque satire of Isabelline Spain, mixing comedy and tragedy to expose corruption, hypocrisy and abuse of power. A production from Castilla y León.
