Travelling exhibition on the mining landscapes of the Montaña Alavesa
From 5 to 11 October, the Plaza de la Provincia in Vitoria-Gasteiz hosts an exhibition by the Diputación Foral de Álava on natural asphalt mining in the Montaña Alavesa, whose main deposits lie in Arraia-Maeztu and Peñacerrada. Six themed cubes explore the geology of these landscapes, the uses of asphalt, asphalt tiles and blocks, the history of the Lucía mine and the 39-kilometre Ruta de los Asfaltos. A photo selection features the former Atauri station, now the Asfaltokia interpretation centre. The exhibition will later travel to other municipalities in Álava yet to be confirmed.
