Euskadiko Orkestra 2026/27: "BARTOK / SHOSTAKOVICH"
Euskadiko Orkestra closes its season at the Palacio Euskalduna in Bilbao on 26 May 2027 at 19:30, conducted by Bulgarian Delyana Lazarova, winner of the Siemens Hallé International Competition. The programme opens with the Siciliana by María Luisa Ozaita, a pioneer in championing music by women, marking ten years since her death. Pianist Josu de Solaun then performs Bartok's Piano Concerto No. 2, with its almost percussive writing and rhythmic richness. The evening ends with Shostakovich's Symphony No. 5, premiered in 1937 amid Soviet pressure and still read by many as a veiled critique of Stalinist terror. Tickets go on sale on 1 September.
