The Notebook Thief — David Pintó
A stage play set in a small village in Mussolini's fascist Italy, where Davide, a lame, illiterate boy, steals notebooks at the market to teach himself to write. His life changes when a group of deportees arrives, sets up a secret school and stages theatre. A poetic story about emancipation through culture, friendship, identity and the transforming power of art. Performed by Albert Triola, adapted and directed by David Pintó i Codinasaltas, translated by Pau Vidal, with original music by Clara Peya. In Catalan, recommended for ages 12 and up. 30 October to 1 November at Teatre de l'Aurora, Igualada: Friday and Saturday at 8 pm, Sunday at 7 pm. Running time about 1 hour 15 minutes. Price: €20.
