A free talk in the XXXIV Autumn Lecture Series, on 15 October 2026 at 18:30 at the Museo de San Isidro. Los Orígenes de Madrid. Paloma Guijarro Ruano of the Universidad Complutense de Madrid will trace how the Greek alphabet emerged from the Phoenician one, developed across the Greek world and spread around the Mediterranean, particularly to the Latin world, and why it mattered for writing and related technical knowledge from Antiquity to modern times. Introduced by Adolfo Domínguez Monedero, board member of the Madrid Delegation of the SEEC.
