Lecture: the science of science fiction
Science and culture communicator José Manuel Tenorio gives a talk on the scientific ideas behind some of science fiction's great stories. He will cover the genre's major themes, inventions foreseen by Jules Verne and Arthur C. Clarke, what science says is possible or impossible, from interstellar travel to conscious machines, and the ethical dilemmas of the future. He will also look at how film, literature and series turn science into storytelling. Aimed at ages 8 and up, the lecture takes place on 14 October 2026 at 9:10 at IES Ramiro de Maeztu in Madrid.
