Chopin's Piano Concerto — Cristian Măcelaru, David Khrikuli
The Orquestra Simfònica de Barcelona i Nacional de Catalunya (OBC), conducted by Cristian Măcelaru, performs a symphonic programme at L'Auditori in Barcelona with young pianist David Khrikuli as soloist. The evening opens with Smetana's The Moldau, a symphonic poem tracing the river's course to Prague. Next comes Chopin's lyrical Piano Concerto No. 1, Op. 11. The second half features Rachmaninoff's Symphony No. 3, Op. 44, a post-Romantic work written during his American exile and marked by nostalgia. Performances on Friday 23 and Saturday 24 at 7 pm, lasting about 120 minutes. Tickets from €25.
