Book club: "Juana" (Jon Artano)
A book club session in Orio on "Juana", the first book by journalist Jon Artano, published by Elkar in 2023 with support from the Tene Mujika grant. It traces the life of Juana Perea Plata, a sailor and diver from a Basque family that fled Bilbao for Bogotá in 1937, who was murdered in 2020. Artano travelled to Colombia to find out who killed her and why. The result is a travel book blending chronicle and investigative journalism, shaped by war, violence and the memory shared across both sides of the Atlantic. The session takes place on 16 December 2026, from 18:30 to 20:00.
