Casals according to Ginastera, Márquez's folk virtuosity, and Dvorák's ninth
A symphonic concert featuring three works. It opens with Alberto Ginastera's Glosses on themes of Pau Casals (1976-1977), a tribute to the Catalan musician blending technical difficulty, experimentation and musical memory. Violinist Anne Akiko Meyers, who won a Grammy for her recording of the piece, then performs Arturo Márquez's Fandango for violin and orchestra, written in 2020 and rich in folk references. Antonín Dvořák's Symphony No. 9, "From the New World", composed in the United States, closes the programme. Part of the Pau Casals Year commemoration. Performances on 6 and 7 November at 19:30 and 8 November at 11:30 at the Auditorio Nacional de Música, Madrid. Paid admission.
