75th Anniversary of the Annexation of Fuencarral to Madrid
A free day in Madrid marking 75 years since Fuencarral became part of the capital. At 12:30 a thanksgiving mass is held at the Iglesia de San Miguel de Fuencarral, followed at 13:30 by a performance from the Grupo de Danzas Nuestra Señora de Valverde in Plaza Islas Azores, where a tasting of migas is served at 14:00. From 17:00 to 19:00, a route visits the four hermitages at the cardinal points (San Roque, Virgen de Lourdes, Cristo del Humilladero and Santa Ana), with short traditional prayers read at each stop. The churches stay open during those hours, and the walk ends by marking the site of the lost Santa Ana hermitage.
