"The Torre Tube. A 12,000-year-old question"

Ekainberri in Zestoa hosts a temporary exhibition on the Torre Tube, marking 60 years since its discovery in the Torre cave in Oiartzun. This piece of Upper Palaeolithic portable art is a northern gannet bone engraved around 12,000 years ago with animal figures, a human depiction and various signs. Set in the library area of the Basque Country rock art room, the exhibition explains to a general audience, in an accessible way, how the engravings were made, what they show, what the object may have been used for and which interpretations scientists still debate. Open from 22 July to 31 December.
