La Encartada Fabrika Museoa (guided tours)
Guided tours of La Encartada in Balmaseda, a former beret and woollen goods factory founded in 1892 by five emigrants who had made their fortune in Mexico, and which operated for a hundred years. An industrial museum since 2007, it preserves its buildings, workers' village and an outstanding collection of mostly English machinery from the late 19th and early 20th centuries, covering the entire production process from raw wool to packing and shipping. Tours are always guided and last about an hour; the last one starts an hour before closing. Price: €3.50 / €5.50. Booking is recommended and required for groups of more than 20.
