"Irakurri-Léase 'Euzkadi'", a work by Aurelio Arteta
The Museo de Bellas Artes de Bilbao presents Irakurri-Léase 'Euzkadi' (1912), Bilbao-born painter Aurelio Arteta's original sketch for the poster that announced the launch of the newspaper Euzkadi in February 1913. Made in charcoal, gouache, watercolour and pastel, the piece is of great historical value, since no copy of the poster has been found and it is known only from period photographs. Acquired with support from the Basque Government's Department of Culture, it joins the museum's 39 works by Arteta. Open Wednesday to Monday, 10:00 to 20:00; closed Tuesdays, 25 December and 1 and 6 January; on 24 and 31 December, open 10:00 to 14:00.
