Josep Maria de Sucre Exhibition — Painting

From 16 September 2026 to 17 January 2027, Espais Volart at Fundació Vila Casas in Barcelona hosts a paid exhibition on Josep Maria de Sucre (1886-1969), painter, poet and art critic who played a key role in the shift from Noucentisme to the avant-garde. His faces, masks and portraits probe human psychology with an intensity that foreshadows neo-expressionism. The show also gathers works by around thirty Catalan artists of the early post-war years, for whom Sucre was a bridge to the Republican period and international modernity. Curated by Aitor Quiney and Joan Gil Gregorio.
