MORERA - Museu d'Art Modern i Contemporani de Lleida presents an exhibition on Club 49, an organisation that between 1949 and 1971 ran more than 500 cultural initiatives, mainly in Barcelona, to keep artistic modernity alive under the Franco dictatorship. Heir to ADLAN, it championed classical music, jazz, painting, photography and video. Drawing on extensive archival research, the show reconstructs some of its activities and the challenges of sustaining modern culture amid repression.
