"American Images" exhibition — Dana Lixenberg
From 1 October 2026 to 17 January 2027, KBr Fundación Mapfre in Barcelona shows a selection of key projects by Dutch photographer Dana Lixenberg (Amsterdam, 1964). Made mainly in the United States, her documentary portraits take an empathetic look at marginalised communities, pop culture figures and social landscapes, from Imperial Courts, begun after the 1992 Los Angeles riots, to Jeffersonville (Indiana) and Shishmaref (Alaska). The images speak of inequality, identity and resilience. Open Tuesday to Sunday and public holidays, 11:00 to 19:00; closed on Mondays unless a holiday. General admission: €5.
