"Bouffon Course"

Espe López leads a Spanish-language course at Sala Baratza (Vitoria-Gasteiz) on the bouffon, a specialised form of mask work that uses the grotesque and parody to question power, science and religion, while also opening room for tragedy and poetry. Each participant develops their own character. It is aimed at professional actors and acting students with some grounding, and demands energy and focus. Three weekends: 12-13 September, 31 October-1 November and 21-22 November, 10:00-14:00 and 16:00-20:00. First weekend €100, required before the others; full course €250. Limited to 12 places, sign-up deadline 31 July. Bring comfortable and spare clothes, plus loose, colourful garments such as coats, hats and scarves.
